The George L. Carter Chapter, NRHS, is an all-volunteer organization affiliated with the George L. Carter Railroad Museum on the campus of East Tennessee State University, meeting on that campus in Johnson City, Tenn. The Chapter has monthly meetings with a variety of programs and plans regional railfanning excursions such as the September 2011 trip to the Cass Scenic Railroad, in Cass, W.V. The Chapter is engaged in helping scouts in the local Boy Scouts of America council earn their railroading merit badge and in collecting oral histories of local Southern Appalachian railroads and railroading, i.e., Clinchfield, Southern and the ET&WNC "Tweetsie", that will be archived at the university. Visitors are always welcome to attend our meetings and join in our activities.
